On Baylor's "punishment"

The punishment and motive for these financial sanctions just screams public optics. This money, while a substantial amount will still end up in the bank for Baylor at someone point if they only do the bare minimum. The 3rd party verification sounds great but it's all about reaching the bare minimum requirements f a Title IX office that the government mandated years ago. This punishment today just allows Baylor to rearrange some things, it isn't an hinderance, they know that cash will eventually flush out on the back end.

An actual substantial punishment fo Baylor would have been to recoup bowl shares for 2012-2015 seasons when the bulk of these events happened and a one year home conference slate ban. That would have been a substantive punishment, an actual punitive punishment. What would have a conference game ban actually accomplish? It would punish the insular #CAB supporting elements of business, media and fans in Waco. A year-long home came suspension it would give the campus time to deal with their issues without the distraction each home event has become with protests/counter protests. I do believe that such a ban would serve as a recruiting sanction in light of Baylor's academic fraud.

The Big 12 gets no pat on the back out of this from me. It's window-dressing. but it made a good press release, so that's nice
