So what now

Well that sucked

So where does Lincoln Riley and Oklahoma turn now

The Obvious

Casey Thompson - We never neglected Casey, in fact Oklahoma was among his earlier offers- Rising just verbaled early

Spencer Sanders- The current Oklahoma State commit is the best QB product in Texas this cycle.

Dark Horses

Other QBs in Texas:

- Tanner Mordecai
- Clayton Tune
- Jalen Mayden
- Chance Amie

Outside of Sanders, who is a  developmental prospect with a high ceiling the bulk of QBs in Texas this cycle aren't quite up to Sooner snuff out of high school. These  kids can end up as very good college qbs if in the right system/fit however it's just a long development period

I suspect if it isn't going to be Thompson or Sanders this will move quickly to other offers,

Wagons East?

Thinking of the big picture here, Riley probably heads back east if he strikes out on Thompson and Sanders.  Riley recruited the Mid Atlantic and the South East for years with East Carolina and has repeatedly reached back to pick up prospects from his time there. Wouldn't shock me at all if he hands out some offers this week back east, hell wouldn't shock me if we hand out a few to kids based at IMG.

I'll look at that possibility more tomorrow and reup this with some names

East/South East prospects worth kicking the tires on

-Artur Sitkowski - IMG QB teammate of Pledger
-Emory Jones- Swing for the fences
-James Foster - Missouri commit
-Dejuan Ellis - Va Tech commit,  2QB in the class
-Gerry Bohannon - Arkansas kid, similar skillset  to Thompson

Westernish Kids
-Cammon Cooper - rising senior to be
-Spencer Petras- solid skill set

The above is just a recruitniks shortlist based on size, attainability and skill set. It's extremely freaking likely if OU does pursue a QB outside of Thompson/Sanders it won't be any of the above - the US is a big place and Riley will zone in on a particular guy based on his personal criteria. - The above are just guys who fit the mold of what OU has done recently.

As of now I'd describes this as Casey's opportunity to defer if he elects to do so, Sanders opportunity to accept if Casey defers, then the field  of unknown offers at that point if Sanders declines. . That's the order of operations here.
