Shot: Recruiting 101 (Dec15 2016)

I figured since someone may come across this that's unfamiliar with college football recruiting and whats going on in that realm. I'd write a brief primer/guide on terms,

Dead Period - Around the holidays mandatory shut down of recruiting: Coaches can't call prospects (tho prospects can call coaches) and no in person visits with coaches.

Bathrooms - Places to avoid trying to get interviews.

Star Rankings

5* - Potential Superstar, All American Potential, Potential Pro Bowl Measurable.(p5)
4* - Potential Superstar, All American Potential, Measurable NFL Potential (P5)
3* -  High School Stud, All Conference Potential, notably lacking in some measurable(P5, G5)

The base rating for high school player i've ever seen is a 2. I've never seen a 1.0 means  evaluation hasn't happened.  Prospects in this rating are suited for G5, FCS, and lower division of football.  Reminder if any kid is reading this, scholarship to anywhere is a blessing, doesn't matter if it's Oklahoma or Panhandle State, don't take that for granted.

Star rankings are mobile and subjective from service to service. Recruits out perform their recruiting ranking each year, but again you want more higher ranked players. Each service has their own period of reranking, reevaluating prospects.
